A very common question that I get from both the person who has been arrested\u00a0and \/or their\u00a0family and friends\u00a0is, “how long will it take to get out of jail now that\u00a0bond has been\u00a0posted?”\u00a0\u00a0While there\u00a0is really no exact\u00a0answer to that question, both in my experience, and that of many of my collegeus, I tell them that it usually<\/em> takes between 4-6 hours to be released once bond has been posted.\u00a0The reason that it takes this long is that an inmate has to change back into their original and own clothing, be given\u00a0any property that they\u00a0came\u00a0in with and then given their release paperwork and have a chance to review it. Depending on many factors such as how many people are currently in the\u00a0Travis County Jail,\u00a0staff availability, and how many people are in the process of being released, the release process can take quite a while.<\/span><\/p>\n
