A very common question that I get from both the person who has been arrested and /or their family and friends is, “how long will it take to get out of jail now that bond has been posted?”  While there is really no exact answer to that question, both in my experience, and that of many of my collegeus, I tell them that it usually takes between 4-6 hours to be released once bond has been posted. The reason that it takes this long is that an inmate has to change back into their original and own clothing, be given any property that they came in with and then given their release paperwork and have a chance to review it. Depending on many factors such as how many people are currently in the Travis County Jail, staff availability, and how many people are in the process of being released, the release process can take quite a while.
